Pets love us and we love our pets~ they are welcomed into our family and into our hearts bringing us joy and sometimes sorrow, but always companionship and love. As an artist and pet lover, my desire is to create oil portraits that give you not only a timeless piece of art, but a reminder of your pet’s lasting affection in your life.

When you’re ready to commission a painting, here are a few more things to consider:

I paint 2-3 paintings a week (depending on subject and size), so if there are a few before you, yours might take 2-4 weeks to complete. I’ll let you know when I receive your email.

Each painting is done on archival flat panel board and will take a week to be dry-to-the-touch after completion, then a coat of varnish is applied. The painting will be ready to frame ( without glass) when you receive it. If you want a frame made for it or an additional subject painted, that will be extra.

When I’m ready to paint your pet, I’ll email before I start to make sure you are ready to continue and ask what size you had in mind along with my recommendations after I see your pet. After the painting is completed, I’ll email  with shipping options and ask for payment (Venmo, Paypal, Zelle).

Here are some helpful photography tips:

  • Natural light is best. Either outside or near a window. (No flash please) This also helps your pet’s eyes to have a sparkle- bonus!

  • Contrast is key. If you have a white or light-colored pet, a photo with a darker background is helpful. If your pet is dark (i.e. A black lab), try a few photos with the exposure lowered.

  • Get eye level with your pet- but not too close! (Things get distorted)

  • Speaking of distorted…if you’re wanting a full body portrait make sure all limbs, ears, tail, etc. are in the photo.

  • High resolution photos work best- no need to edit or use filters.

If this a memorial portrait, please email all the photos you love of your pet. (Spam me with photos- the more the better!)
